The Challenge
The brief for this project was complex. A venue housing more than 8k capacity had to be built from scratch in the desert. This included, amongst other items, the creation of new roadways, paths to site to house the attendees, toilets, bars, running water, power and all aspects of infrastructure and venue. The pre-production began working remotely with the event promoters, agents and Keinemusiks own team. Production continued later onsite with an international team of 100 plus individuals ranging from lighting and sound suppliers, decor companies, power suppliers, a local site management team, carpenters and the clients. This presented complex conditions such as language challenges and differing schedules and contractual clauses. The show spec also included a drone show of 300 drones over the Pyramids which also presented considerable licensing challenges since drones at the time were illegal in Egypt.
The Solution/Result
C3’s head of production John Castrilon, worked using AutoCAD and Vectorworks to create the site plans set ahead by the Keinemusik and The Hangar Productions team. Sound design was created with soundvision, a designing + mapping software. Scheduling and managing different teams ahead of the build and on the ground for both infrastructure and artistic vision included a vast amount of comms, including planning and scheduling with local suppliers and government. Shows of this magnitude are notoriously difficult to deliver in Egypt because of socio-cultural differences and differing health and safety guidelines and we proudly say we delivered an outstanding and seamless show at this world famous location.
